It's been a while!

Wow. I cannot believe in forgot I made this blog. I wish I would've kept this log going, especially as I am now looking for a job and finding myself unmotivated to find a job as an MD. Not that other jobs would be easy, in fact, they'd probably be so much harder now that I think like a doc (most of the time), but I'd still love to do something else sometimes. Thankfully, I was recently blessed to go to Peru and remembered why I went into medicine. And, I am grateful for the opportunity to be a physician. As corny as it sounds, it's a privilege and I don't ever want to forget that.
But, that being said, I don't know many residents who haven't spent some part of a crazy night on call, in the ICU or in the ED, thinking of what else they could be doing with their lives instead of putting in a line, calling a family, begging a patient to remember his meds, or writing someone for a suppository at 3am (oh yes, I have done that).
This is what I came up with:
Travel photographer
Behind-the-scenes destination finder for the travel channel (not sure if this really exists)
Fashion designer
Buyer for a furniture store
Architect
Resort owner or worker (like the bartender at a swim-up bar!)
Senator (ha!)
Stay at home Mom (kind of need to meet the Dad first for this one ;)
Bill Gates' assistant (I love his charity work and would love to work with him for this reason. I don't really get computers)
Florist
Chocolate taster
Wine seller/rep for a winery
Weather girl
Ski instructor (granted I would have to get a million times better first...)

Well, that's it for now. I am hoping to keep looking for jobs, and add as many memorable patient encounters as I can while I still remember them! I know they've all changed my life and made me who I am today, but I still want to have them documented; so, every now and again when I log onto here, I can picture them.
